We all have our human hair extensions which spend on much money. So we must take great pride in keeping both our natural hair and our extensions in tip top condition. Today here are the DO's and DON’Ts of choosing and caring for a sew-in weave--Julia hair style.

Choosing your hair weave
DO
choose to buy hair that closely matches your own hair texture. There are both high end and affordable options for curly hair or straight textured weaves that blend beautifully. Pay close attention to the color, curl pattern and luster of the hair that you buy so that you will have a seamless transition from your hair to the extensions.
DON’T
Wear hair that appearsh silkier or shinier than your own unless you are prepared to use heat, gel, and manipulation to blend you hair into your extensions. If you would like to experiment with straighter or weave extensions.
DO
Consider a full-head weave by using a closure or frontal piece that creates a false, but believable hairline. Buy the best quality hair that you can afford. Save up if you have to and look for sales. There is nothing worse than being able to tell a diva cut corners by installing cheap hair! High-end fashionistas should shop online for Julia human hair extensions.
Installing your hair weave
DO
“Seal” moderately priced beauty supply store hair into the tracks, before installing, to deter shedding by using weft sealant or fabric glue found at craft stores. Brazilian curly hair textured weaves tend to tangle and require more manipulation than silkier textures so they are more apt to shed.
DON’T
Allow your stylist to braid your hair too tightly which will pull at your natural hair causing tension damage – especially around the edges Bald edges are real. Don’t become a walking cautionary tale!
DO
Use a weaving net to cover your cornrows before you begin to sew on the tracks.
DON’T
We DON’T recommend that you sew your tracks directly onto your braids, unless you have a really good braid pattern, because that will dictate track placement and affect how your hair ultimately falls. A weaving net also protects your hair from the stress and pulling that comes with the day to day brushing and combing of your weave.
DO
Use silk thread to sew in your weave tracks.
DON’T
Use cotton thread to install your tracks, as cotton has been known to absorb moisture and could rob your natural hair of precious moisture and lubrication.
Caring for your hair weave
DO
Treat your weave hair as well as you would treat your own hair – it’s all yours because you bought it, right? You will need a coated bristle paddle brush and a seamless detangling comb to keep your curly weaving looking tight.
DO
Detangle curly hair by conditioner washing it in the shower at least once or twice per week. While in the shower, coat your hair with cheap conditioner. Repair and comb through it with your big detangling comb. Rinse the conditioner out while brushing through it carefully from the ends working your way up to the tracks/roots with your paddle brush.
DON’T
Try to wet only the tracks and DON’T soak your hair down to the scalp during weekly maintenance. This will allow your hair to dry faster and avoid your cornrows from retaining too much water which can cause your hair to smell like mildew – gross! In the event you get your hair soaked,
DO
Get your weave completely dry by sitting under a hood dryer for at least an hour.
DON’T
Wear a dirty weave
DO
Gently shampoo your weave once or twice per month to remove product buildup, but DON’T vigorously shampoo your tracks or rub them together. When washing, gently smooth diluted shampoo from the weft down to the ends and rinse water through it using the same fluid motion. Try to avoid getting shampoo trapped under your net.
DO
Use a micro-fiber towel to dry your hair – scrunch your hair gently to remove excess moisture.
DON’T
Rub your hair with the terry cloth towel that you use dry your body. That will cause your hair to frizz.
DO
Use a moisturizing leave-in conditioner to soften the weave hair before you style it. We like Curly Knot Today followed up with the Curly Curling Custard for a soft gel hold. We also like the Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner.
